Lesson Overview –
Language Arts: In Language Arts we will focus on asking questions to clarify word meaning in nonfiction texts, and asking questions to understand more information in nonfiction. In writing, we will begin to learn about writing poetry.
Math: In Math we will begin making a student book about numbers – incorporating what we have learned in math along with what we have learned about nonfiction – this will be our final project for the year! Homework will be to work on iXL.com each night for 20 minutes – we will continue this until the end of the year to support students with what they have learned. This is also a great tool to use to continue practice over the summer!
Science: This week we will continue our final unit on Waves: Light and Sound. We will conduct investigations to show that vibrating materials can make sound, and that sound can make materials vibrate.
Social Studies: This week we will continue our unit on “How Do Families Change?”. We will focus on different ways responsibilities change as we get older, along with roles within the family. We will also discuss how responsibilities change within school as students get old and what Grade 1 will have to prepare for moving into Grade 2.
